The Great and Powerful by Don-ko The Great and Powerful by Don-ko
ALL OF SUDDEN topless version here in my scraps [link]

Well, I wanted to draw something like a sexy female, a human and Trixie at the same time, so here it is, human version of The Great and Powerful Trixie!

It's actually my first public attempt of drawing human (old stuff in my gallery can hardly be called humans), So, the first pancake is always a mess, so I want some critiques to this picture. Please note - non constructive 5 star critiques will not be posted.

Special thanks for Spotty the Cheetah for his advises!

Okay, first time writing a critique here, but I think I know enough to write one, thanks to an art class that I have taken in college.

Anywho, let's get down to business. This picture is, in fact, a very original piece in the sense that humanoid versions of Trixie (or in this case, Sexie) are quite rare. The style you used for this artwork is very unique, definitely more crisp and detailed than most of your others. The shading, to me, seems pretty spot on, especially around her arms and the garment that she is sitting on.

One particular detail that I find most interesting, even though it isn't too noticeable, is the fact that you still enabled us to see the entire moon even though only a fraction of it is lit up. I don't really see that too often whenever people draw moons. Very nice.

Your style of smoke is also pretty slick. I can tell that you put quite some effort into it.

All in all, this is probably one of my most favorite pictures that you have ever submitted, if not the best.

What do you think?

I'd say you succeeded with flying colors good sir. All my money to see Seth's reaction to this, I hope you've tossed an email up to the EqD blog, even if it doesn't make it into a drawfriend (or it's own post for that matter).

You've included several homages to the show - the clouds, Trixie's coat color as her uniform, her cape & hat and of course the stage - they all fit very well together. The proportions are nicely handled, and the foreshortening on her feet looks quite natural given her pose.

Alas, you've requested critique and there are some very minor points that do catch my eye in this stellar work. You tend to favor a bit more of a jagged style, and I feel that revels itself a it too prominently in her face, particularly in her chin and lower eye makeup. While the remainder of her body is exceptionally smooth, making reference to the show imho, her face stands in contrast.

One other effect I've been a bit picky about in the past on other artists' work is an iris outline. The show avoids the outline and I feel it would have worked better in your work to avoid it as well because it makes the character feel a little less 3D. In general I feel the outline a real eye is only slightly noticeable and including it in an artistic work makes the eye seem more like it is not actually spherical rather than appearing more realistic.

There are a couple lines that jump out at me. One is the junction of the inner rim of the hat which is almost touching her hair. The line indicating the inner rim from the back of the hat overlays the line from the front inner rim, making it feel like the rat has a piece of fabric hanging down in the back. I think if you extended the front line rather than the back line, it would better show the front rim is closer to the viewer than the back rim (much like you did on the other side of the hat near her ear - the front line is extended to show that the front is closer to the viewer). I also feel her cleavage has a very small oddly-placed line. While typicaly works may sport the 'Y' juncture, your work is at a lower angle and at a greater rotated angle (she's not strictly facing the camera). When I use my cursor to cover up the short line extending from the juncture of her breasts on the left side, her body feels more natural. Imagining that line in reality gives her some oddly shaped appendages, and I think you're better off simply removing the line.

Perhaps one other point - her thigh in the foreground feels a tad thick - about three times the diameter of her forearm, making her seem a tad chubby (I'd estimate about 2-2.5 times is more typical). I'm not sure if that may have been your intent as it's rather minor, but I draw your attention to it as it seemed to be due to more than her leg simply being in the foreground and thus being larger.

:) Overall a very nice detailed work, the shines are a cute touch, as are the sheen on (what I presume is) her latex outfit - they really make this piece professional. Keep up the awesome work

Very nice human Trixie! Nice curves, good coloring, long legs, amazing rack, etc. She reminds of a stripper the way she is portrayed here. I'm not saying it's a bad thing; merely an opinion.
